GreenLight Bio’s Statement on the Farm, Food and National Security Act

The future of agriculture depends on producing more with fewer resources. To feed a growing global population while protecting our natural resources, we must be precise in land use, crop selection and inputs.

We applaud House Agriculture Committee Chairman GT Thompson for including forward-looking provisions in The Farm, Food and National Security Act released today that recognize the value of innovative, targeted biological solutions - including RNA-based technology - as a core component of precision agriculture. By expanding the definition to include these next-generation tools, the Committee is ensuring that American farmers have access to the most advanced, efficient and sustainable pest management tools, now and in the future.

This policy shift is a critical step toward modernizing our regulatory framework to keep pace with innovation as well as promoting greater competition in agricultural inputs. It empowers growers to maximize productivity and reinforces the U.S. commitment to a resilient and secure food system.
